This spring, Seattle’s Sister Cities program marked two special moments celebrating global friendship and culture.

Seattle Added to Bergen’s Mount Fløyen Signpost

After 58 years of partnership, Seattle was officially added to the iconic signpost atop Bergen’s Mount Fløyen during One Ocean Week 2025. The new marker was unveiled by Lori Ann Reinhall of the Seattle-Bergen Sister City Association alongside Bergen’s Lord Mayor Marit Warncke and Seattle Councilmember Dan Strauss. This visible symbol highlights the enduring bond between the cities and kicks off Seattle’s hosting of next October’s One Ocean Week.

Seattle Hosts First Sister Cities Short Film Festival

On May 4, Seattle held its inaugural Sister Cities Short Film Festival at the Polish Home Association. Nine sister city groups showcased diverse short films, sharing stories from cities like Nantes, Mombasa, Tashkent, and Kaohsiung. The event featured local filmmaker John McDonald and blended film, global cuisine, and cultural exchange. Thanks to strong community support, the festival will return in 2026.
